Tales for a Winter's Night

Five warm and funny Christmas tales from Charles Dickens, written to be read aloud by the fire.

Every year Dickens filled the Christmas issue of his magazine with stories to be shared at home. This collection gathers some of the best. Some Christmas Stories includes his beloved essays on the Christmas tree and on what Christmas means as we grow older. In The Holly-Tree, a shy traveller snowed in at a Yorkshire inn passes the days recalling its tales. The Seven Poor Travellers are given a Christmas Eve feast at an old Rochester charity, Tom Tiddler's Ground visits a hermit who refuses to wash, and Doctor Marigold, a travelling salesman, tells how he raised a deaf girl as his own daughter.

Each story is short enough to enjoy in a single sitting, making this the perfect companion for the nights before Christmas.
