Shot to the Moon

Jules Verne's classic voyage to the Moon, written a century before Apollo, and its little-known sequel.

After the American Civil War, the members of the Baltimore Gun Club decide to fire a giant cannon at the Moon, and three daring men volunteer to ride inside the shell. From the Earth to the Moon and Round the Moon follow the great project and the astonishing journey. In The Purchase of the North Pole, the same club buys the Arctic and plans to shift the Earth's axis to get at it.

Inventive, funny and amazingly far-sighted, this is science fiction from the master of the genre.
