Bryce, James
Biography
British historian, politician, diplomat and jurist, Bryce is famed for his work, The American Commonwealth (1888).
One of his early essays was published as a book titled The Holy Roman Empire in 1864. He co-founded the English Historical Review in 1885. In 1907, Bryce was sent to the United States as an ambassador, an office he held till 1913. He was made a viscount in 1914 and later that year became a member of The Hague, the International Court of Justice. He also promoted the establishment of the League of Nations. Bryce is famous for his learned and intellectual writings on law and politics including Modern Democracies (1921).
