Hewlett, Maurice Henry

English historical novelist, poet, and essayist famed for his romantic novel The Forest Lovers (1898). He got his education from the London International College, and in 1891 he was called to the bar. From 1896 to 1900, he worked as the keeper of the land revenue records and enrolments. He joined the Fabian Society in 1917 and worked on a report on wages for the Board of Agriculture. His important works are: Richard Yea-and-Nay (1900), The Queen’s Quair (1904), The Fool Errant (1905), Halfway House (1908), The Open Country (1909), The Song of the Plow (1916).;
