Biography
James Macpherson (1736 - 1796), Scottish poet and scholar, is best - known for his collection of Gaelic poems of Ossian. Macpherson started his writing career with the Collection of Fragments of the Ancient Poetry in the Scottish Highlands. He then produced the translations of the collected works of third - century Gaelic poet, Ossian, because of their style, description, and poignancy, were later determined to be not translations but original compositions by Macpherson. ;
