Sue, Eugene

French author chiefly noted for his novels Mysteries of Paris (1843) and The Wandering Jew (1845). Sue was a naval surgeon and it was his experiences in the profession which inspired him to write his first work of fiction. He also wrote a number of historical novels and worked as a journalist.;
