American poet and author Eliza Lee Follen (1787 - 1860) is particularly known for her works for children. She also translated and edited other authors books for children. An active member of the Massachusetts anti - slavery movement, she voiced her ideas in many forums. An active member of several religious societies of Massachusetts, she also founded a school. ;
