Richardson, Samuel

Samuel Richardson (1689 - 1761), prominent English writer, printer, and publisher of the 18th century, was born in Mackworth, Derbyshire. He is best - known for his three epistolary novels, Pamela: Virtue Rewarded (1740), Clarissa: the History of a Young Lady (1748) and Sir Charles Grandison (1753). He was printer who went on to exert a profound influence on the writers of his day and become quite popular among the literary circles. ;
