To Be or Not to Be

Shakespeare's four greatest tragedies in one collection, the plays at the heart of English literature.

In Hamlet, a young prince is commanded by his father's ghost to avenge his murder. Othello follows a great general destroyed by jealousy and by the lies of his trusted ensign Iago. In King Lear, an old king divides his kingdom between his daughters, with terrible consequences, and in Macbeth, a soldier's ambition, spurred on by three witches and his wife, leads him to murder a king.

Studied in schools and universities around the world, these four plays explore power, love, guilt and madness with a force that has never been matched.
