Julius Caesar

Shakespeare's gripping tragedy of power, loyalty and betrayal in ancient Rome.

Julius Caesar returns to Rome in triumph, and a group of senators fear he means to make himself king. Persuaded that the Republic must be saved, the honourable Brutus joins Cassius in a conspiracy to kill him on the Ides of March. But Caesar's death unleashes forces the conspirators cannot control. Mark Antony's famous funeral speech turns the crowd against them, and Rome slides into civil war.

A study of political ambition, persuasion and conscience, Julius Caesar remains one of Shakespeare's most widely read and performed plays.
